250th Anniversary Events

This year marks the 250th anniversary of Friedens Lutheran church. Join us as we celebrate this milestone with fellowship events, special worship, and other celebrations!

History of Friedens Lutheran Church …From the Past into the Future

Frieden’s ministry grew from a seed that was planted on March 19, 1770 when 19 men signed a declaration uniting themselves together in the name of the Holy Trinity as the “new” Allemangel or Frieden’s Church.  Through God’s nourishing love and guidance this church (also known as the White Church) has flourished for 250 years.

For the first 190 years Frieden’s Union Church nurtured members of both the Reformed and Lutheran traditions. In January 1960 the Reformed congregation voted to disband, since that time the church has thrived as Friedens Lutheran Church.

The ministry of Friedens Lutheran Church is rooted not just in the history of the last 250 years, but also in the lifegiving Gospel of Christ Jesus.  The Good News of our crucified, resurrected and living Lord frees the people of Friedens to grow in new and creative ways.  This Word of God propels all in the future, a future filled with the ministry of caring for others and sharing the Good News known through the gift of Jesus Christ.  It is a future overflowing with hope and flourishing with growth in God given faith and in love for one another and all of God’s people throughout the world.

From its meager beginnings in a log cabin without a roof, to the church that once stood in the parking lot, to the present-day church known as Friedens Lutheran Church, we strive to continue this ministry of the Good News of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Here’s to another 250 years to come.
