Pastor’s Devotion

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I’m almost starting to feel a bit like Paul stuck in jail or something. This social isolation is daunting even for me and I am part extrovert and part introvert. I hope this note find you well.  I have been thinking a lot about music. I typically listen to a lot of music. However, I have not even been in my car to hear the radio in a while. Maybe you miss music too. God love when we use music to appreciate the world and when we sing praises to him. Here is a reading from Psalm 68:

1 Let God rise up, let his enemies be scattered’ let those who hate him flee before him. 3 But let the righteous be joyful; let them exult before God; let them be jubilant with joy. 4 Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds – his name the Lord – be exultant before him.

7 O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness. 8 the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain at the presence of God, 10 n your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy.

21 But God will shatter the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of those who walk in their guilty ways, 22 The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, 24 Your solemn processions are seen, O God, the processions of my God, my King, into the sanctuary – 25 the singers in front, the musicians last, between them girls playing tambourines. 28 Summon your might, O God; show your strength, O God, as you have done for us before.

32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth; sing praises to the Lord, 33 O rider in the heavens, the ancient heavens; listen, he sends out his voice, his mighty voice. 34 Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel; and whose power is in the skies. 35 Awesome is God in his sanctuary, the God of Israel; he give power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!

I hope you are finding way to look for blessings in this time of uncertainty. I hope if you are lonely or need something uplifting you could find a song or hymn which speaks to you. We can pray. We can talk to God. We can sing. We can listen to the music of nature. We could hum a happy hymn which gives us joy. There are many things we can do as we continue to be worshiping in our own ways at home.

God is with you always. May God bless and keep you and put a little tune in your heart too!

Miss you all,

Pastor Althea
